Change Your Mind, Change Your Life

I watched an inspiring video today - check it out when you have time -                       http://www.ted.com/talks/kelly_mcgonigal_how_to_make_stress_your_friend In it Kelly McGonigal discusses the linkage between stress and health. What I found most insightful was the core fact that your health and well being is directly impacted by your attitude and perspective; that choosing to see stress as a positive thing, can change the affect that it has on your body. It reminds me of all those old sayings told to you by your mom (I'm sure you have some of your own):

  • You are what you eat
  • You will worry yourself to death
  • Perception is reality
  • Only you can make yourself feel guilty

...all telling us the same simple truth...our choices, behavior and attitude direct our path in life. And so it is with loss. If you choose to ignore, push aside, bury, suppress, and deny it, you will digest that negative energy and it will literally, physically (and often mentally) make you ill. On the other hand if you find ways to encounter, engage, exchange and release it, you will expand your life in ways you thought impossible. You really DO direct your own life...either by actively engaging or disengaging - which means it is completely in your power to change it.

What are you holding in, that if released, could change your life?
