"Draw out of the lines. Think out of the box. DANCE through the gate. Open the window. Leap through the door. Take a chance. Reach. DREAM."

Cathy's Story

My story is a convergence of circumstances that in hindsight provides answers to questions, a path and direction. All experiences and encounters have shaped my life, my opinions, beliefs, and choices: moving around as a kid, writing for the school paper, my love of algebra, back surgery at 17, love in college, banking career, mentors, more moves, new career, children, loss of loved ones, in and out of the workforce, coach, courses, and new beginnings. Each provided new opportunities to learn and grow, if I just paid attention, listened, and took action.

Passion for helping others

For over nearly thirty years I have worked as as a business consultant, facilitator and project manager; helping clients understand, document, and improve the way they do their work. In 2014 I expanded that passion from organizations to working with individuals standing at pivotal moments of transition. My volunteer work took me to CaringMatters, as an Adult Bereavement Facilitator working with weekly groups and annual retreats. And now my reach is even greater as I offer workshops on Reimagining Life (learning to live your next chapter in life).

My personal strengths serve me well here - deep listening, asking thoughtful questions, an analytical mind, and a big-picture thinker. I want to help my clients understand themselves so they may embrace their wisdom, find their joy and own their lives.

Life-long Learner

I am not ashamed to say I do not have all the answers, but I am confident I can find them. I am fascinated by all kinds of subjects and so read extensively, participate in diverse groups and classes, and support my own learning through meditation and journaling. I focus on the messy-middle of living where:

  • change has occurred and nothing is the same

  • people grapple with the loss of what was or could have been

  • all of us seek acknowledgement, understanding, and direction.

Methods and tools

I believe answers are found through honest reflection, learning, and exploration: self-understanding and acceptance, leveraging strengths and talents, trying new things and learning from them, taking chances, and changing direction. To do this I utilize a wide variety of activities and exercises to create awareness, and ask thought-provoking questions to help my clients create meaning and purpose; explore core beliefs; and take action on their goals. I encourage my clients to incorporate writing and meditation into their daily routines as a way to quiet the mind and hear the internal messages. Taking time for reflection is useful for clearing the cobwebs and discovering the answers buried beneath the mess.
